Ham, Gruyere and Chive Toasties
Thick slices of white bread are pressed until crackly around folded ham and nutty melted gruyere. Snipped chives in the cheese add a fresh oniony note that makes these far more than a basic toastie.
Test kitchen note: Butter the outside of the bread, not the pan, for an even golden crust with no pale patches.
