About Silkpie Recipe

We write recipes the way a good pie is made: in layers, and never in a rush.

Silkpie Recipe is a small, independent recipe kitchen run by SILKPIT INC. We started with a shared notebook of dinners that actually worked on a Tuesday, and grew into a library of 336 recipes across 12 categories, each one cooked at least three times before it goes live.

How a recipe gets made

Six slices of testing

Every recipe passes the same six checks before it reaches you.

  1. Draft

A recipe developer writes the dish from a real craving, with weights and volumes side by side.

  2. First cook

The developer cooks it exactly as written, and every wobble becomes an edit.

  3. Blind test

A second cook who has never seen the dish follows only the page. No hints allowed.

  4. Home kitchen

A third cook makes it in an ordinary home kitchen with ordinary pans and a supermarket basket.

  5. Photograph

We photograph the finished plate so what you see is what the recipe actually makes.

  6. Publish and listen

Once live, reader notes and ratings go straight back to the developer for fixes.

The people in the kitchen

Meet the team

Portrait of Janet Albrecht

Janet Albrecht

Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Janet spent eighteen years editing regional newspapers before a column about her grandmother's recipe box grew into Silkpie Recipe. She still reads every recipe aloud before it goes live, because clumsy instructions sound worse than they look. At home she cooks big pots of lentil soup on Sundays, and she keeps a drawer of index cards scored with handwritten corrections from readers.

Portrait of Henrik Olsen

Henrik Olsen

Executive Recipe Developer

Henrik cooked on hotel lines and ran a small bistro kitchen for twenty-five years before deciding he would rather teach than plate. He develops most of our weeknight and baking recipes and insists that every one works in an ordinary oven. At home he bakes rye bread twice a week, and he owns one saucepan so old he refuses to replace it.

Portrait of Daniel Moreau

Daniel Moreau

Test Kitchen Manager

Daniel ran prep for a busy brasserie and later managed a catering kitchen, which taught him to love checklists. Now he schedules every test cook, tracks ingredient brands and oven quirks, and decides when a recipe is ready. His home cooking leans toward braises and roast chicken, and he labels his own fridge leftovers with masking tape and dates, out of pure habit.

Portrait of Camila Reyes

Camila Reyes

Food Photographer and Stylist

Camila studied fine art photography and spent five years shooting cookbooks for small publishers before joining the team. She styles every dish with the food as cooked, no glue or tricks, and shoots mostly by window light. At home she makes huevos rancheros on weekends and collects mismatched thrift store plates, which quietly appear in half our recipe photos.

Portrait of Marcus Okafor

Marcus Okafor

Membership and Community Lead

Marcus came to Silkpie Recipe from a decade of running cooking classes at community centers, where he learned that most kitchen fears are about timing. He answers member questions, organizes our cook-along nights, and turns reader feedback into recipe fixes. At home he cooks jollof rice for anyone who visits, and he keeps a running spreadsheet of every potluck he has ever attended.
