Chocolate Oat Porridge with Plums, Banana and Coconut
Creamy oats simmered with cocoa taste like a warm chocolate pudding but keep you full all morning. Juicy plum wedges and banana slices sit on top, finished with shredded coconut, dark chocolate shavings and a sprig of mint.
Test kitchen note: Whisk the cocoa into the cold milk before heating; added later, it forms stubborn dry lumps that never fully dissolve.
Method 5 steps
-
Whisk the cocoa, maple syrup and salt into the cold milk in a saucepan until smooth.
-
Add the oats and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
-
Cook, stirring often, for 5 to 7 minutes until thick and creamy. Let stand 1 minute.
-
Spoon into bowls and arrange plum wedges on one side and banana slices on the other.
-
Sprinkle with coconut and chocolate shavings and top each bowl with mint.
That is the whole pie. Enjoy every slice.
