Old-Fashioned Chicken Noodle Soup
A slow-simmered chicken broth, golden and flecked with parsley, carries tender carrot cubes and wide egg noodles. It is the simple, soothing pot everyone remembers, made properly from bone-in chicken rather than a carton.
Test kitchen note: Cook the noodles directly in the soup only if you will eat it all at once; otherwise boil them separately so they do not swell overnight.
