Honey Whole Wheat Sandwich Loaf
Half whole wheat and half bread flour, this everyday loaf slices cleanly for sandwiches yet stays tender enough for toast. Honey rounds out the nutty bran flavor and helps the top brown to a warm chestnut color.
Test kitchen note: Let the whole wheat flour soak with the water for 20 minutes before adding yeast; the bran softens and the loaf rises noticeably higher.
